Green & Labour win ward vote
Markhouse ward (roughly matching the QBC area) has picked new representatives in the council elections.
ChantΓ© Johnson was elected as the wardβs first Green Party councillor. Johar Khan was reelected as a Labour Party councillor.
Sharon Waldron who along with Johar Khan has been a Labour councillor since 2014 lost her seat. The ward has has elected all Labour councillors since its creation in 2002. The area was previously part of the St James Street ward.

The change was reflected at council level too with the Green Party going from 0 to 31 seats to take control of the borough from Labour. Labour are left with 15 seats and the Conservatives 14 seats, including 3 reclaimed from defectors to Reform.
